Bontrager Aeolus RSL – The Pro's Choice

The Aeolus RSL wheels open up a new dimension in speed. Using 3D modeling in the design process, Bontrager was able to more accurately calculate every gram of drag – in every direction, on every plane, and across all subsections of the wheel/tire assembly.

But it didn't stop there. The result of the of the efforts to optimize rolling resistance is an inner rim width of 23 mm, which is proven to roll faster.

Designed using Bontrager's optimized 3D modeling, the Aeolus RSL wheels offer a significant speed advantage without compromising on stability.

The rim construction is based on the lightest carbon that can be produced via OCLV process, which in combination with the specially matched profile depth of 62 mm offers ultimate speed and maximum versatility. With an inner rim width of 23 mm, the Tubeless Ready rims also roll noticeably more comfortably and create a low aerodynamic drag increasing the maximum speed, too.

The extremely lightweight hubs with the proven internals of the legendary DT Swiss 240 models ensure especially smooth running. In the rear wheel, the Ratchet EXP freewheel system not only ensures a spontaneous response, it also makes the hub lighter, stiffer, more precise, more reliable and easier to maintain.

OCLV (Optimum Compaction Low Void)

OCLV Carbon is Trek's patented process in carbon fiber processing and the result of more than 25 years of bike and component design experience.

The right combination of heat and pressure is the most important step during the manufacturing process (Optimum Compaction). In addition, reducing the voids between the individual carbon fiber layers to a minimum has a positive effect on the strength and robustness of the composite (Low Void).
